Golden Knights fire coach DeBoer

-

The Golden Knights fired coach Peter DeBoer after missing the playoffs for the first time in their five-year franchise history. DeBoer, who had coached the Knights since January 2020, became the fourth coach to lose his job since the regular season ended, joining the Red Wings’ Jeff Blashill, the Flyers’ Mike Yeo and the Islanders’ Barry Trotz.

†The Islanders hired longtime Barry Trotz assistant Lane Lambert to replace him as their coach. The team fired Trotz, who had one year left on his contract, last week after missing the playoffs for the first time in his four seasons behind the bench. It will be Lambert’s first head-coaching job in the NHL.
