Ayo an All-Rookie second-teamer

For the third straight season, the Bulls have an All-Rookie selection.

Former Morgan Park and Illinois star Ayo Dosunmu is the latest to earn the honor, following Coby White in 2020 and Patrick Williams last season.

Dosunmu had two first-team and 71 second-team votes to make the All-Rookie second team.

Unanimous picks Scottie Barnes of the Raptors (previously named Rookie of the Year), Evan Mobley of the Cavaliers and Cade Cunningham of the Pistons were joined by Franz Wagner of the Magic and Jalen Green of the Rockets on the first team.

† Stephen Curry had 21 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, and the Warriors beat the Mavericks 112-87 in the first game of the Western Conference finals. Dallas’ Luka Doncic scored 20 points but shot just 6-for-18 overall and 3-for-10 from deep. Jalen Brunson scored 14 points but missed all five of his three-point attempts for the Mavs.

Scherzer leaves game with injury, to get MRI

Mets ace Max Scherzer removed himself from the team’s 11-4 victory over the Cardinals with discomfort in his left side. He will have an MRI exam Thursday, the team said. Pete Alonso homered and drove in four runs for the Mets.

Ian Cole beat Igor Shesterkin at 3:12 of overtime to help the Hurricanes beat the Rangers 2-1 and take Game 1 of their second-round series. The Canes’ Sebastian Aho sent the game to overtime, scoring with 2:23 left in the third period.
