Helms Put on Indefinite Leave by Sox

Wes Helms, manager of the White Sox’ Triple-A affiliate in Charlotte, has been put on indefinite leave, the Sox said Friday.

The team released no further details.

“Because it is a personnel issue, we cannot provide additional informatio­n at this time,” Sox spokesman Scott Reifert said.

Catching coordinato­r Julio Mosquera has taken over in Helms’ role at Charlotte.

Helms, 46, is in his fourth season in the Sox’ system and second as manager at Charlotte. He was a coach with Double-A Birmingham in 2019. He played for the Braves, Brewers, Marlins and Phillies from 1998 to 2007.
