Ex-Bears QB Foles gets deal with Colts
Former Bears quarterback Nick Foles signed a two-year contract Monday with the Colts. Foles, 33, will back up veteran Matt Ryan, whom the Colts acquired in a trade with the Falcons earlier in the offseason.
The move reunites Foles with Colts coach Frank Reich, who was the offensive coordinator with the Eagles when Foles was voted the most valuable player of Super Bowl LII for them after the 2017 season.
Foles spent the last two seasons with the Bears after being acquired in a trade with the Jaguars in 2020. He threw three touchdown passes in relief of Mitch Trubisky against the Falcons in Week 3 in 2020 but faltered in seven starts after that game. Foles had a 79.6 passer rating as a starter, and the Bears went 2-5.
One of his victories as a starter that season came against the eventual Super Bowl champion Buccaneers, against whom he completed 30 of 42 passes for 243 yards with one touchdown and one interception in a 20-19 victory Oct. 8, 2020, at Soldier Field.

According to the report, two separate samples taken from Haskins’ body had alcohol levels of .20 and .24, both of which are well above the legal limit of .08 in Florida. The medical examiner ruled Haskins’ death an accident.
