Pa. Sen. Fetterman checks into hospital for depression

WASHINGTON — Pennsylvan­ia Democratic Sen. John Fetterman, still recovering from a stroke, has checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to seek treatment for clinical depression, his office said Thursday.

Fetterman, 53, who has struggled with the aftereffec­ts of a stroke he suffered last May, checked himself in Wednesday night, it said.

“While John has experience­d depression off and on throughout his life, it only became severe in recent weeks,” his chief of staff, Adam Jentleson, said in a statement.

Fetterman’s wife, Gisele, said she was proud of Fetterman “for asking for help and getting the care he needs.”

Biden wants ‘sharper rules’ on unknown aerial objects

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden said Thursday that the U.S. is developing “sharper rules” to track and potentiall­y shoot down unknown aerial objects.

While not expressing regret for recently downing three still-unidentifi­ed objects after shooting down a Chinese balloon, Biden said he hoped the new rules would help “distinguis­h between those that are likely to pose safety and security risks that necessitat­e action and those that do not.”

“Make no mistake, if any object presents a threat to the safety and security of the American people I will take it down,” he added, repeating the legal justificat­ion cited for the downings — that the objects, flying between 20,000 and 40,000 feet posed a remote risk to civilian planes.

Biden ‘healthy, vigorous’ and ‘fit’

WASHINGTON — Despite testing positive twice last year for the coronaviru­s, President Joe Biden has no long-term symptoms and has been declared “healthy, vigorous” and “fit” to handle his White House responsibi­lities, according to a routine medical checkup performed Thursday.
