Panthers blown out by Cowboys

The Bears’ quest to have the top pick in the NFL Draft moved another step closer after the Panthers were blown out 33-10 by the Cowboys on Sunday in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Panthers, who are assured of their sixth consecutiv­e losing season, fell to 1-9, ahead of the Cardinals (2-9) and Patriots (2-8) in the draft order. The Bears (3-8) also have their own pick at No. 4.

Panthers quarterbac­k Bryce Young (16-for-29, 123 yards) was sacked seven times, lost a fumble and threw a pick-six to DaRon Bland. It was Young’s third pick-six in the last three games, and it was Bland’s fourth of the year, tying him with Philadelph­ia’s Eric Allen (1993), Kansas City’s Jim Kearney (1972) and Houston’s Ken Houston (1971) for the NFL record.

Browns 13, Steelers 10

Dustin Hopkins kicked a 34-yard field goal with two seconds left after rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson completed four consecutiv­e clutch passes for 39 yards to lift the host Browns.

The Steelers were outgained for the 10th consecutiv­e week, and running back Jaylen Warren (129 yards on nine carries) outgained quarterbac­k Kenny Pickett (106 passing yards).

The Browns beat the Ravens and Steelers in consecutiv­e weeks for the first time in 15 tries.

Bills 32, Jets 6

Josh Allen threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns for the host Bills, who topped 25 points for the first time in seven weeks.

The Jets benched quarterbac­k Zach Wilson (7-for-15, 81 yards) with 2:17 remaining in the third quarter and replaced him with Tim Boyle (7-for-14, 33 yards).

Bills safety Taylor Rapp left the field in an ambulance with a neck injury after colliding with the Jets’ Breece Hall and teammate Taron Johnson, who suffered a concussion on the play.

Giants 31, Commanders 19

Undrafted quarterbac­k Tommy DeVito, who played for Illinois last season, picked up his first NFL win in his second start to lift the visiting Giants.

Despite being sacked nine times, he completed 18 of 26 passes for 246 yards with two touchdown passes, to Saquon Barkley and Darius Slayton.

The Commanders had six turnovers, including three intercepti­ons by Sam Howell.

Rams 17, Seahawks 16

Lucas Havrisik made a 22yard field goal with 1:31 to play for the host Rams, who held on to win when the Seahawks’ Jason Myers missed a 55-yard attempt with three seconds left.

Seahawks quarterbac­k Geno Smith suffered a biceps bruise in the third quarter but returned for the final drive.

49ers 27, Buccaneers 14

QB Brock Purdy (21-for-25, 333 yards, three touchdowns) finished with a perfect passer rating to lift the host 49ers.
