Seahawks beat Eagles on late TD

- Sun-Times wires

The Seahawks stunned the Eagles 20-17 on Monday night, ending a four-game skid and getting back into NFC playoff contention.

Quarterback Drew Lock threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba with 28 seconds left to cap a 92-yard drive.

Lock moved the Seahawks (7-7) the length of the field for their longest touchdown drive this season and found the rookie first-round pick for the biggest catch of his young career. On third-and-10, Smith-Njigba beat James Bradberry off the line, and Lock’s throw was perfect to cap an unlikely comeback from an early 10-0 deficit.

Lock, who made his second straight start in place of the injured Geno Smith, connected with DK Metcalf three times on the decisive drive, including much-needed chunk plays of 18 and 34 yards.

The Eagles had one last chance, but Julian Love made his second interception of the fourth quarter, picking off Jalen Hurts’ deep pass intended for A.J. Brown and just getting his feet down inbounds to send the Eagles (10-4) to their third straight loss.

Jets’ Rodgers wants to play

The Jets are eliminated from playoff contention, but quarterback Aaron Rodgers still hopes to play this season.

With a decision due by Wednesday, coach Robert Saleh said Monday that Rodgers wants to play again this season, but Saleh refused to comment on whether Rodgers will.

“Aaron wants to play; let’s not confuse that,” Saleh told reporters. “That’s why he’s been working so hard to get back.

“His willingness to play, even if he’s not 100%, is at the forefront of his mind. He wants to go, but ... until he’s actually cleared, I’m not going to talk about it with anybody.”

Steelers’ Kazee suspended

The NFL suspended Steelers safety Damontae Kazee without pay for the remainder of the season for what the league described as “repeated violations” of rules designed to protect player safety.

The ruling means Kazee will miss Pittsburgh’s final three regular-season games and any potential playoff games if the Steelers advance to the postseason.

Ravens running back Keaton Mitchell suffered a full tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee Sunday against the Jaguars night, ESPN reported. Ravens coach John Harbaugh confirmed there was a ligament tear but wouldn’t confirm the specific nature of the injury.

Chiefs’ Moore done for season
