All-Star F Con­nor McDavid won’t need surgery for the in­jury he suf­fered in the Oilers’ sea­son fi­nale April 6 against the Flames. McDavid, 22, a can­di­date for league MVP after he matched a ca­reer­high with 41 goals and set a new ca­reer-best with 116 points de­spite the Oilers miss­ing the play­offs for the 12th time in the last 13 sea­sons, was di­ag­nosed with a mi­nor tear of the PCL in his left knee. He’s ex­pected to be ready for the start of Oilers train­ing camp in Septem­ber . ... Hi­lary Knight and Kelly Pan­nek each scored twice and goal­tender Alex Rigsby made 11 saves to lead four-time de­fend­ing champ U.S. to an 8-0 win over Rus­sia in the semi­fi­nals of the women’s world cham­pi­onship in Espoo, Fin­land.
