Is­landers run points streak to 12 straight

Scott May­field scored in the third pe­riod, Thomas Greiss stopped 37 shots and the Is­landers notched their 11th win in 12 games with a 2-1 vic­tory over the Pan­thers.

Mathew Barzal had a goal and an as­sist to help the Isles re­bound from an over­time loss to the Pen­guins on Thurs­day. The Is­landers earned a point for the 12th straight game.

Alek­sander Barkov scored and Sergei Bo­brovsky fin­ished with 34 saves for the Pan­thers, who lost in reg­u­la­tion for just the sec­ond time in 13 games.

With the Pan­thers trail­ing 1-0, Barkov tied it with a power-play goal at 6:12 of the third, beat­ing Greiss from the right side for his fourth.

May­field re­gained the lead for the Is­landers 38 sec­onds later with a shot from the right point that ap­peared to de­flect in.

Caps con­tinue surge: Evgeny Kuznetsov and Jonas Siegen­thaler scored as the league-lead­ing Cap­i­tals beat the Golden Knights 5-2 in a meet­ing of the 2018 Stan­ley Cup fi­nal­ists.

Kuznetsov re­vived his fa­mous bird cel­e­bra­tion, flap­ping his arms after scor­ing 58 sec­onds in, and added an as­sist in the Cap­i­tals’ sixth con­sec­u­tive vic­tory. The Caps have won 10 of 11 and haven’t lost in reg­u­la­tion since Oct. 14.
