“Yellowstone” (8 p.m., CMT, PARMT, Tvland): The Dutton clan braces itself for another fight, this time against the U.S. government, as this drama returns for Season 3. Amid the hubbub involving the Beck brothers, a lien has been placed on their property. Elsewhere, Kayce (Luke Grimes) wrestles with some of his past demons as he fights to secure his place in the family, while Jimmy (Jefferson White) and the other cowboys search for new work. Joining the cast are Josh Holloway and Jennifer Landon.

“Worst Cooks in America” (8 p.m., 11 p.m., Food): For the first time, Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli (“Supermarket Stakeout”) serves as a mentor along with series veteran Anne Burrell as this culinary competition launches Season 20. In the season premiere, “Doomed Dinners,” the pair welcome 14 terrible cooks from across the country and ask them to prepare their favorite childhood dish, just to see what their relative skill levels are.

“Perry Mason” (8 p.m., 9 p.m., 10:30 p.m., HBO): Viewers who associate “Perry Mason” with the 1957-66 TV series of that title starring Raymond Burr should prepare themselves for a jolt with this new limited series. Set in 1931 Los Angeles, this reboot stars Matthew Rhys as a younger Mason, who makes his living as an unconventional detective even as he shows signs of the legal eagle he eventually will become. Juliet Rylance (“The Knick”) and Chris Chalk (“Gotham”) co-star as Della Street and Paul Drake; John Lithgow, Tatiana Maslany and Robert Patrick also are featured.

“The Chi” (8 p.m., 10 p.m., 12 a.m., Showtime): Troubled Ronnie Davis (Ntare Mwine) finally finds himself on a path to healing and redemption as this gritty but heartfelt drama opens Season 3. Elsewhere, Kevin (Alex Hibbert) is hoping for a fresh start at his new school, while Emmett (Jacob Latimore) struggles with juggling the demands of business and his growing family. Meanwhile, Douda (Curtiss L. Cook) announces his candidacy to be Chicago’s mayor, and Trig (Luke James), the estranged brother of Jake (Michael V. Epps), returns to the city as a man on a mission.

“NOS4A2” (9 p.m., 10:06 p.m., 3:27 a.m., AMC 9 p.m., BBCA): This hit series adaptation of a novel by Joe Hill returns for a sophomore season that picks up eight years after the events of Season 1. Despite the passage of time, the formidable Vic McQueen (Ashleigh Cummings) is still hellbent on destroying Charlie Manx (Zachary Quinto), who schemes to get revenge on Vic by using her 8-year-old son Wayne as a pawn. Those clashing obsessions set the pair on a fateful collusion course that will determine a little boy’s destiny. Jahkara Smith, Ebon MossBachrach and Virginia Kull also star.

“Tournament of Laughs” (9 p.m., 10 p.m., TBS): Actor and former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Jason Sudeikis hosts this new seven-part comedy competition, in which 32 comics compete head-to-head but virtually in a single-elimination, bracket-style tournament. Each episode features multiple match-ups, with Sudeikis acting as both master of ceremonies and color commentator. Viewers decide which comics advance via phone and online voting.
