Chicago Weather Center: Complete forecast in Nation & World,
With temperatures rising into the mid-90s and oppressive dew points in the mid- to upper 70s, the heat index Sunday looks to rise above 100 degrees in almost all parts of the Chicago area.
A cold front approaching Sunday night will be preceded by a band of showers and thunderstorms. Some could be strong with damaging winds and floodproducing downpours. A refreshingly cooler and less humid air mass will follow the front and storms as they move out of the area Monday. The rest of the workweek looks mostly rain-free with high temperatures hovering in the mid-80s.
The hurricane season is well under way with Hurricane Hanna making landfall in southern Texas Saturday afternoon, and the center of Hurricane Douglas skimming by the north side of the Hawaiian Islands Sunday.
