Can Bears rebound to top Brees, Saints? Our experts say no.

-

Brad Biggs (5-2)

The Bears have been playing the entire season without a major piece in the middle of their defense, tackle Eddie Goldman, who opted out. Otherwise, they’ve been pretty durable with the exception of losing left guard James Daniels inWeek 5. Now, injuries are adding up, and they’re going to have adapt theway some of their opponents have after missing key players for games through two months of the season. The Saints have figured out howto remain productive offensively without wide receiver Michael Thomas, and he could return.

Colleen Kane (5-2)

With a healthy Allen Robinson and Cody Whitehair, I might have given this one to the Bears. But they’ve been sidelined in practice thisweek, and they mean too much to a Bears offense that alreadywas scuffling. Bears defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano called the Saints’ Alvin Kamara “a nightmare” as he’s piled up the receiving and rushing yards this season, and Kamara should do enough damage Sunday to help the Saints pull off the win.

Heavy winds in the forecast might become a much-needed equalizer for the Bears. Their struggling offense didn’t have nearly enough firepower at full strength to keep up with Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara and Co. And now with significant injury concerns? Uh-oh. Nothing we’ve seen through the first two months has hinted at an offensive breakthrough. Big plays might be needed in all three phases to pull off an upset.
