Woman in her 80s among several shot
A woman in her 80s was shot in the neck and a man was fatallywounded as they stood in a commercial business Saturday afternoon in the city’s Brainerd neighborhood.
A separate attack left another female victim dead earlier in the Hyde Park neighborhood.
A gunman confronted the woman, 81, and a 20year-old man at the business in the 9300 block of South Halsted Street about 3:30 p.m.
The woman was shot in the back of her neck and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition, police said, while the man was also taken to Christ, where he was pronounced dead.
Less than an hour earlier, a 46-year-old was fatally shot in the chest and back, and another woman, about 77, was shot in the face Saturday afternoon at a building in the East Hyde Park neighborhood, Chicago police said, citing preliminary details.
About 2:40 p.m., the women were shot in the 4900 block of South East End Avenue.
Police said a gunman entered the vestibule of an apartment building and asked to use the phone. Soon after, he began firing shots at the victims. One of thewomenwas sitting at a desk in the vestibule. Police said shewas not the intended target.
