Weekend weather reverts to March-like chill
Through the first full week of May the month’s average temp was running 2.6 degrees above normal despite our current cold spell. May 1-2 was the warmest set of weekend days since last August, featuring two consecutive July-like 85-degree highs. Low pressure passing south of the area on Sunday will combine with high pressure over southern Canada to produce chilling northeast winds. In addition, clouds and precipitation will inhibit daytime warming resulting in 40-degree daytime temps, a scenario more typical of mid-March. Sub-normal readings will continue into midweek before the cold weather pattern begins to break down. Forecasts suggest more robust warming may commence after mid-month with highs returning to the 70s next weekend.
