AROUND THE HORN

-

Blue Jays: Reliever Jacob Barnes was acquired by the Blue Jays from the Mets on Saturday for pitching prospect Troy Miller. Barnes, 31, is 1-1 with two saves and a 6.27 ERA over 19 relief appearances this season. He has a 4.53 ERA over his six-year career. Miller, 24, was 3-2 with a 4.93 ERA over seven appearances with High-A Vancouver and Double-A New Hampshire this season.

Twins: Twins center fielder Byron Buxton was activated from the 10-day injured list for Saturday’s game at the Rangers after being sidelined since May 6 with a right hip strain.

Padres: Padres star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. left Saturday’s game against the Reds after appearing to reinjure his left shoulder diving for an RBI single by Tyler Naquin in the fifth inning. Tatis dove to his right for the ground ball and extended his left arm as he landed. He immediately reached for his left shoulder, which he partially dislocated taking a violent swing against San Francisco on April 5 — that injury landed him on the 10-day injured list. Tatis was immediately checked by a trainer as manager Jayce Tingler came out to make a pitching change. Tingler then checked on Tatis, who walked off the field. Tatis left a spring training game after hurting the shoulder while making a throw but was back two days later.

Reds: Joey Votto and manager David Bell of the Reds were ejected in the first inning Saturday following a heated argument with home plate umpire Ryan Additon after Votto was called out on a checked swing. A Padres fan sitting in the expensive seats near the Reds dugout also was tossed. Catcher Webster Rivas appealed after Votto offered at the high, outside pitch from

Miguel Diaz, and third base umpire Chris Guccione confirmed that Votto went around. Votto was unhappy and began arguing, and Bell came out of the dugout and joined the argument. Bell and coaches Delino DeShields and Freddie Benavides had to keep Votto away from Additon, who then apparently ejected the player and manager at the same time. Votto had to be restrained as he continued to argue. Shortly after Votto went to the dugout, the fan was ejected.

Nationals: Jon Lester pitched shutout ball into the seventh inning to gain his first win for the Nationals, Kyle Schwarber backed him with four RBIs on a pair of home runs and the Nationals beat the Mets 6-2 Saturday to split a day-night doubleheader.

Mets: Francisco Lindor had five RBIs on a pair of two-run homers and run-scoring single for his first big offensive game with the Mets, a 5-1 victory over the Nationals on Saturday in the opener of a day-night doubleheader. Lindor homered in the first on a sinker from Joe Ross (3-7), singled in the third on a changeup for a 3-0 lead and homered in the fifth on a slider for his 12th multi-homer game.

Pirates: Michael Perez and Bryan Reynolds hit three-run homers during the seventh inning and the Pirates rallied for a 6-3 victory over the Indians on Saturday. Perez homered to right off Bryan Shaw to put the Pirates ahead. Four batters later, Reynolds hit fastball from James Karinchak that sailed over the stands in right, bounced into the Allegheny River and was measured at 428 feet. Down 2-0, the Pirates walked six times in the seventh inning, three each by Shaw and Karinchak.
