■ Indians: The Indians got back one of their key missing pieces Saturday, activating catcher Roberto Pérez from the injured list. A two-time Gold Glove winner, Pérez has been out since undergoing surgery on his right index finger in May. Pérez initially got hurt when he got crossed up on a pitch from reliever James Karnichak in an April 13 game in Chicago.

■ Nationals: Kyle Schwarber was placed on the 10-day injured list because of a right hamstring strain. There is no timetable for his return. He was among the hottest hitters in the majors, bashing 16 home runs in June, seven of them leading off games. Schwarber said he does not need a procedure to repair damage to his hamstring. He will use compression treatment to reduce swelling. Rest and strengthening exercises will follow.

■ Blue Jays: George Springer homered for the second straight day, Santiago Espinal hit his first career home run and the Blue Jays beat the Rays 6-3 Saturday. The Blue Jays won for the 10th time in 13 games. The Rays have lost five straight.

And the the Royals relief corps held the Twins to one run on three hits over the final five innings, giving the Royals a 6-3 victory — their second straight on the heels of a nine-game skid. ... The Royals traded Kelvin Gutierrez to the Orioles for cash. The 26-year-old infielder has struggled with injuries the past couple of years and was hitting .215 with a homer and eight RBIs before he was designated for assignment June 28.

■ Mariners: Mariners pitcher Hector Santiago is expected to have the appeal hearing about his 10-game suspension for using a grip-enhancing foreign substance heard next week during the team’s current homestand. Mariners manager Scott Servais said Saturday he didn’t know exact date but believed it would be the middle of next week. Santiago became the first player disciplined under MLB’s crackdown on grip-enhancing foreign substances when he was given a 10-game suspension after umpires ejected Santiago on June 26 against the White Sox.

■ Marlins: Sandy Alcantara pitched six strong innings, Garrett Cooper homered and drove in two runs, and the Marlins beat the Atlanta 3-2 on Saturday. Tempers were calm a day after Pablo López was ejected for hitting Ronald Acuña Jr. on his first pitch of the game. The Marlins got a big assist from Alcantara, who saved the bullpen from extra work a day after Miami had to use five relievers to cover nine innings.

■ Mets: Taijuan Walker took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, Nimmo provided a spark in his return from the injured list and the Mets beat the crosstown Yankees 8-3 Saturday to open a three-game set. The Mets already led 8-0 when Aaron Judge homered with one out in the sixth to end Walker’s bid for the record-tying eighth no-hitter in the majors this season.

■ Brewers: Omar Narváez had five hits, Avisaíl García drove in five runs and Jace Peterson added four RBIs as the Brewers rolled to their 11th straight victory, 11-2 over the Pirates on Saturday. It is the Brewers’ longest winning streak since they began the 1987 season with a franchise-record 13 victories in a row.
