Johnson, Michael Stanley ‘Mike’

great sadness that the family of Michael (Mike) Stanley Johnson announces his passing on Monday, June 7, 2021, at the age of 64 years. A native of St. Louis, MO, he lived in Chicago, IL for over 30 years. Mike attended Soldan High School in St. Louis, MO and graduated in 1975. Mike received a B.A. from University of Missouri, Columbia where he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Later in life, he obtained a M.A. in Education. After 38 years, Mike retired from teaching, most recently from Whitney M. Young Magnet School. Mike had several passions in his life, one being his love of baking, especially his grandmothe­r Canzada’s Rum Cake. He also loved flowers, specifical­ly orchids, and had a stunning garden where he loved to entertain. The holidays were his favorite time to entertain with family and friends. Mike had a tremendous love of fashion, like his mother June. You could always find Mike in a very fashionabl­e hat with all his outfits. He was predecease­d by his parents, Edward W. Sr. and June M. Johnson. Michael will be remembered by his siblings, Edward W. Johnson, Jr. (LaCreta); Glenn M. Johnson (Krista); Carolyn J. Stempler (Howard); Ashley N. Love-Smith; Erika R.
