Diane Elizabeth Marton nee Hamernik, passed away on June 27, 2021 in Wood Dale, Illinois at the age of 79 after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her son David (Paige) of Portland , Oregon and her sister, Marilyn of Arlington, Virginia. Born to George and Mary nee Jurek on August 24, 1941, Diane grew up and lived on the Northwest Side of Chicago until moving to Wood Dale in 1966. Diane worked in various administrative roles until retiring when she was able to spend time pursuing her favorite hobby, photography. She was an active and avid member of the Mayslake Camera Club, serving in leadership roles with the club while indulging her favorite interests: flora, fauna and wildlife and capturing them in photos. While she loved her photo travels and adventures, she also spent time with genealogy research and volunteered with the Wood Dale Police Department which provided her with many opportunities for community engagement. Her neighbors will remember her as the “Mayor of Lincoln Court” since her first priority was always making things better. She will be dearly missed. Diane will be interred in the Masaryk Memorial at Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago. A Memorial Service will be held on a later date.
