Jingst, Terri Elaine

-

Terri E Jingst of Allons TN, formerly of Cookeville

TN and Lily Lake IL passed from this world to heaven on May 13, 2022, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Houston TX on May 22, 1955, and lived in Crestwood MO, and Downers Grove IL. She was united in marriage to Allen D Jingst on October 11, 1980, and was the proud mother of David (1981) and Lauren (1984). Over the course of their 41-year marriage, the family lived in both the suburbs of Chicago as well as Ballwin MO. They also attended or were members of both Lutheran and Evangelical Covenant churches in these areas. Her parents, Warren and Shirley Duncan preceded her in death as well as her beloved sister, Karen in 1999.

Terri graduated from Downers Grove South High School in 1973 and attended College of DuPage. She was employed as a medical claims representative, then later as a unit secretary at several hospitals in the Chicago area while raising her children. Active with her children’s school activities she also enjoyed her hobbies of needlepoint and crafting. She often helped with her parent’s craft show activities and displays.

However, Terri dealt with numerous health issues throughout her life. She was a two-time cancer survivor and in later years suffered from heart and lung illnesses. Even still, those serious problems did not stop her from enjoying life, from taking long

drives through the middle Tennessee countryside to playing with her dogs, especially Cory with whom she had a special bond. In September 2021, Terri and Allen moved to their “dream home” overlooking Dale Hollow Lake. While moving was the furthest thing from their minds, this turned out to be the culmination of everything they wanted in a place to finally retire. With the help of Eric Evans, a very special person, she was able to see several renovations to completion. Terri often said about her health challenges “When is God going to give me a break?”, but then realized this home was exactly what God had in store for her in her final months. Finally, her friendship with Cheri Krejci of Port Washington WI

was so comforting over many years, and especially over the final months. That friendship sustained and gave meaning to the final steps of Terri’s life.

With friends in both the Cookeville and Chicago areas, there will be a visitation at Crest Lawn Funeral Home on June 21, 2022, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and at First United Methodist Church of Downers Grove IL on June 27, 2022, beginning at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Cookeville Regional Charitable Foundation (931) 783-2003.
