Therapy dog’s role
Hendricks was pretty young — only 16 weeks old — when he arrived at the grand opening of Belmont Village’s Lincoln Park location in Chicago. But the young resident plays an important role as a therapy dog to provide companionship to the residents — many of whom are in their 80s. He was raised by Brianna Bernholdt, activity program coordinator at Belmont Village Senior Living Lincoln Park. To become a therapy dog, Hendricks underwent a
rigorous training program. Besides keeping them company, Hendricks also gives the seniors an opportunity to relive the experience of owning a dog and going on walks together.
