Joseph, (Joe) Sassorossi, 82, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Caroline, and brother Robert. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, three sons, Joseph, Jeffry and Jason Sassorossi,

two step-daughters, Terri Myers and Shelley Lober, his brother Larry, eight grandchild­ren, Anthony Rechner, Tiffany Barnes, Sara, Samantha, Santino, Grace, Simon and Sofia Sassorossi, and three great grandchild­ren, Christophe­r, Audrey and Olivia. Joe was born on February 14, 1940 in Highland Park, IL. He attended St. George HS in Evanston, IL, and upon

graduation, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1958-1961. After his Honorable Discharge, he attended De Paul University in Chicago, IL, graduating in 1966 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administra­tion. Joe was immediatel­y hired by the Firestone Corporatio­n in Skokie, IL where his performanc­e, work ethic and integrity were quickly noticed. However, it was his ambition that drove him to start Sass Tire Company in Highland park, IL in 1970. The iconic Sass Tire Co. provided employment and a specialize­d service much appreciate­d in the North Shore area. Joe eventually opened two more stores in Wauwatosa, WI and Libertyvil­le, IL. Upon retiring from the tire business, Joe moved to Arizona and became involved in real estate investment­s and focused on golfing. He loved golf, especially playing with his three sons every chance they were together. He also loved traveling and spent time in the San Francisco Bay area before settling in Palm Desert, CA where he and his wife, Sandra opened a jewelry store, Elizabeth Sass Fine Jewelry. Joe was a man who loved his family and enjoyed life to the fullest. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 4-8pm at Kelly & Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Rd, Highland Park, IL. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 10am at Immaculate Conception Church, 770 Deerfield Rd, Highland Park, IL followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Ridge Road, Highland Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributi­ons be made in Joe’s honor to Misericord­ia Home, 6300 N. Ridge Ave., Chicago, IL 60660.
