Americus, Violet
Violet Americus, 94, longtime resident of Lincolnwood, Illinois, and most recently, Glenview, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on July 29, 2022. Violet passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family who absolutely loved, cherished and adored her. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Norman Americus, who passed away in December 2018.
Violet was, first and foremost, a loving, loyal and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She attended Kent State University, but after meeting and marrying the love of her life, Norman, she decided to devote her life to raising her family. And she loved her family more than anything else. She was selfless to a fault. She always provided for her family before herself. She would not even take a bite of food if she thought someone in her presence was hungry.
Violet was loved by everyone who knew her, from her family to her friends, to her children’s friends, to the caregivers at the Vi at the Glen where she lived. She touched everyone who came in contact with her, because she radiated and displayed nothing but love and kindness.
Violet was a longtime member of CarterWestminster United Presbyterian Church in Skokie, Illinois. She served as a Deacon for many years and was a long-time member of the Church prayer group. She was also a gourmet cook, specializing in Assyrian cuisine.
Violet is preceded in death by her husband Norman Americus, and is survived by her children, Annette (John) Serritella and David (Susan) Americus, her grandchildren John Jr. (Jacqueline), Matthew (Danielle), Christopher (Mackenzie), Caroline, David (Alexis), Michael (Alexa) and Joseph; and her great-grandchildren.
Services and Interment will be private. Friends wishing to honor Violet are invited to make a donation in her name to Carter-Westminster United Presbyterian Church, 4950 W. Pratt Ave., Skokie, IL 60077. More info 773-736-3833 or www.smithcorcoran.com
