A De La Salle Christian Brother for 65 years, Brother Konrad (Robert Joseph) passed away suddenly on Monday, October 10, 2022, in Chicago. He was 85. Born in Minneapoli­s, MN, to Joseph and Laura (nee Dougherty) Diebold, Brother Konrad entered the Christian Brothers in Glencoe, MO, in 1957 and made his perpetual profession in 1963. His undergradu­ate and graduate degrees were earned at St. Mary’s College (now University) in Winona, MN. He also studied at De Paul University. He taught and administer­ed at St. Paul High School (now closed) and at St. Patrick High School where he was the head of the school for 30 years and where he volunteere­d following his retirement. From 1974-75, he worked in the Catholic Schools Office at the Archdioces­e of Chicago. In 1975, he was appointed the Auxiliary Provincial of the Chicago Province of Christian Brothers and served in that role until 1982. Brother Konrad was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers, Oscar, Russell, and James; and his four sisters, Dorothy, Louise, Laura and Bessie. He is survived by the De La Salle Christian Brothers and his niece, Terri Brauson of Minnesota. He is also survived by other nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held in the Atrium at St. Patrick

High School, 5900 W. Belmont Avenue, Chicago, on Sunday, October 16, 2022, from 3:00pm until 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Ferdinand Church, 5900 W. Barry Avenue, Chicago, on Monday October 17, 2022, at 10:00am. Interment will be at Resurrecti­on Cemetery in Romeoville, IL. Brother Konrad requested that memorials be directed to St. Patrick High School, The Christian Brothers Scholarshi­p Fund that he and Brother David Galinski created to help fund the financial aid program at the school.
