-

Milford F. “Skip” Kostman, 99 years of age, was blessed to be happily married to his beloved and beautiful wife, friend, and inspiration of the late Francine Kostman, nee Singer, whom he adored for all of their 69 wonderful years of marriage.

He was the loving father of his beautiful daughter and pal

Sherry Kostman; grandfather of two adoring granddaughters, Jennifer (Kevin) Traynor and Robyn Kravitz; he was the proud great grandfather of two adoring great granddaughters Emery

and Rory, and adorable great grandson Kaiden Traynor.

Skip enjoyed a remarkable and successful career throughout his many years of life. He graduated from Roosevelt High School at the age of 16 years, and was accepted for enrollment at Northwestern University where he ultimately became the President of his Senior Class and Chairman of the Student Governing Board.

When WWII broke out, Skip graduated Northwestern at the age of 20 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He then enlisted in the Navy Air Corps where he trained and ultimately became a Navy Air Corps pilot. This was followed by additional training at Harvard University as a Supply and Disbursing Officer, after which he served his remaining years aboard several ships until the end of the war, and his ultimate Honorable Discharge.

Skip’s business career followed in the field of advertising and marketing where he formed the agency of Kostman/Schmid & Associates. He successfully guided a wide number of famous accounts including Turtle Wax “Hard Shell Finish” Auto Wax, Blue Coral, Blue Poly, Blue Magic and Bleche White polishes, Ezra Brooks “Real Sippin” Whiskey, Chicago White Sox, and numerous other well known accounts.

He was the first producer and director of columnist Irv Kupcinet’s TV shows including “Request Performance” which featured famous celebrity

appearances of Danny Thomas, Victor Borge, Bob Hope, Jimmy Durante, Sammy Davis Jr., and many

well known stars.

“Skip” wrote numerous poems and limericks that focused on the politics of the day, growing old, and the Covid-19 pandemic. “Skip” always had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. His mind was sharp up until the day he passed. “Skip” remained active until he got the most important wings of his life … his angel wings. Milford “Skip” Kostman will be missed but never forgotten.

But regardless of his passion for success in the business world, nothing exceeded his immense love for his wonderful wife, Francine. And now that he has left us, he will be right at her side forever.
