Woman killed when her vehicle gets hit by man driving stolen car
A South Side woman was killed when the driver of a stolen car hit the vehicle she was driving, then ran off late Thursday in the Lawndale neighborhood, police said.
Juanita Bussell, 21, was pronounced dead at 11 p.m. following the crash in the 1600 block of South Homan Avenue on the West Side, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Bussell was driving west on 16th Street just after 10:45 p.m. Thursday when the male driver of a Ford sedan heading north on Homan hit her vehicle, according to a police media notification. The driver of the Ford fled and Bussell was pronounced dead at the scene. A boy who was riding in the stolen Ford was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition, according to police
A third car also was hit in the crash, but no one in that vehicle was injured, according to police.
An autopsy for Bussell, of the 8200 block of South Ingleside Aveue in the South Chicago neighborhood, Friday found she died of blunt force injuries suffered in the crash. The major accident investigation unit continued to search Friday for the driver of the Ford.
