Wo­man killed when her ve­hi­cle gets hit by man driv­ing stolen car

A South Side wo­man was killed when the driver of a stolen car hit the ve­hi­cle she was driv­ing, then ran off late Thurs­day in the Lawn­dale neigh­bor­hood, po­lice said.

Juanita Bus­sell, 21, was pro­nounced dead at 11 p.m. fol­low­ing the crash in the 1600 block of South Ho­man Av­enue on the West Side, ac­cord­ing to the Cook County med­i­cal ex­am­iner’s of­fice.

Bus­sell was driv­ing west on 16th Street just af­ter 10:45 p.m. Thurs­day when the male driver of a Ford sedan head­ing north on Ho­man hit her ve­hi­cle, ac­cord­ing to a po­lice me­dia no­ti­fi­ca­tion. The driver of the Ford fled and Bus­sell was pro­nounced dead at the scene. A boy who was rid­ing in the stolen Ford was taken to Stroger Hospi­tal in fair con­di­tion, ac­cord­ing to po­lice

A third car also was hit in the crash, but no one in that ve­hi­cle was in­jured, ac­cord­ing to po­lice.

An au­topsy for Bus­sell, of the 8200 block of South In­gle­side Aveue in the South Chicago neigh­bor­hood, Fri­day found she died of blunt force in­juries suf­fered in the crash. The ma­jor ac­ci­dent in­ves­ti­ga­tion unit con­tin­ued to search Fri­day for the driver of the Ford.
