STANDING WATER

Placement of your brooder or chicken tractor is very important. If your chicks are on the ground, or the bottom of the brooder is on the ground, be sure they can get out of the water. Most farm ground is not level. Unleveled ground can help in getting water off the roof of your brooder or chicken tractor, but it can also leave a lot of low spots where your chicks can get caught in standing or running water. My neighbor once lost around 50 broilers because they were standing in water all night and had no place to rest.
