Meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov on Feb 6, President Xi Jinping described the countries’ bilateral ties as a high-level comprehensive strategic partnership.
He said that China, firmly supports Kyrgyzstan in adopting a development path of its own choice and firmly supports it in safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty and security.
Japarov commended China’s efforts in hosting the Beijing Winter Olympics in spite of difficulties due to the pandemic, saying these Games embody the true Olympic spirit and will bring unity, friendship and hope to people around the world.
Noting that their bilateral ties are based on the principles of equality, mutual trust and mutual benefit, Japarov said his country will continue to firmly support China in safeguarding its core interests of sovereignty and security in terms of matters related to the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Taiwan question.
The two countries released a joint statement and signed an array of cooperation documents after the meeting.
