Fruit lovers rejoice Down Under
Aussie fruit lovers are rejoicing, as an oversupply of strawberries has caused “ridiculous” low prices. Overlapping Australian strawberry seasons have caused the price of the berries to plummet, with punnets selling for the bargain basement price of 80 Australian cents (60US cents) around the nation. Supermarkets have been accused of “flooding” the market with strawberries thanks to an oversupply caused by a longer-than-usual season in Queensland and an earlierthan-expected start to the season in Western Australia.
