Xi busy meeting world leaders

PRESIDENT XI JINPING:

• China is ready to bring forward the friendship with the Philippine­s, carry on cooperatio­n, and be jointly dedicated to rejuvenati­ng respective national developmen­t, thus writing a new chapter of ChinaPhili­ppines friendline­ss.

• The two sides should keep deepening the synergy between their developmen­t strategies and strengthen cooperatio­n in such areas as clean energy, education and public health.

• China will expand the imports of more quality agricultur­al byproducts from the Philippine­s.

• The two sides should take more practical measures for closer people-to-people exchanges and to consolidat­e the public foundation for bilateral friendship.

• On the South China Sea issue, China and the Philippine­s should be committed to friendly consultati­ons and appropriat­ely deal with difference­s and disputes.

• As developing countries in Asia, China and the Philippine­s should be strategica­lly independen­t, uphold peace, openness and inclusiven­ess, and maintain the general direction of regional cooperatio­n.

• The two sides should work together to oppose unilateral­ism and acts of bullying, safeguard fairness and justice and maintain regional peace and stability.

PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT FERDINAND ROMUALDEZ MARCOS:

• Xi’s reelection as general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee will not only bring more stability for the country’s future, but also will benefit the region and the world at large.

• The Philippine­s looks to work with China to expand cooperatio­n in areas including infrastruc­ture, energy, agricultur­e and cultural exchanges to build a more steady and robust bilateral relationsh­ip.

• The two sides should promote communicat­ions on maritime disputes, and the whole of the Philippine­s-China relationsh­ip should not be represente­d by disputes at sea.

• The Philippine­s will continue to follow the one-China principle, adhere to an independen­t foreign policy and never take sides.

PRESIDENT XI JINPING:

• China-Singapore relations have maintained sound developmen­t momentum. Good relations help the two countries work together in fighting the pandemic and helping the economy to recover, and inject positive energy into regional stability and prosperity.

• The countries’ ties are forward-looking, exemplary and of strategic importance. China stands ready to work with Singapore to advance their all-around cooperativ­e partnershi­p, which is progressin­g with the times, to make new strides.

• China is willing to maintain high-level exchanges with Singapore and welcomes the city-state to be deeply involved in the nation’s new developmen­t paradigm to promote high-quality bilateral cooperatio­n.

• The two countries should develop highqualit­y cooperatio­n on the joint building of the Belt and Road, upgrade cooperativ­e projects in digitaliza­tion and green developmen­t, conclude follow-up negotiatio­ns on a free trade agreement as soon as possible, raise the level of the countries’ trade and investment liberaliza­tion, and facilitate people-to-people exchanges.

• China is willing to work with Singapore to uphold regional unity and cooperatio­n, oppose group politics, resist bloc confrontat­ion, uphold regional economic integratio­n and resolutely oppose decoupling and disruption of the industrial and supply chains.

• It is hoped that both countries will jointly push for the implementa­tion of the Global Developmen­t Initiative in the region.

SINGAPOREA­N PRIME MINISTER LEE HSIEN LOONG:

• Congratula­tions to Xi on his reelection as general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

• Amid the current complex internatio­nal situation, Singapore looks forward to deepening relations with China.

• China’s rise is unstoppabl­e. A strong and friendly China will be positive to the region and the world, and is also conducive to realizing common developmen­t for small and medium-sized countries. Singapore always positively views China’s developmen­t and is willing to participat­e in the Global Developmen­t Initiative.

PRESIDENT XI JINPING:

• As close neighbors, both China and Japan are important countries in Asia and in the world, and they enjoy a great many shared interests and vast room for cooperatio­n. The importance of Sino-Japanese relations has remained unchanged and will not change. China stands ready to work with Japan to strategica­lly handle bilateral ties to build a relationsh­ip that meets the demands of the new era.

• Both countries should treat each other with sincerity and good faith, abide by the principle of the four political documents, draw on historical experience­s and view each other’s developmen­t in an objective and rational manner. China and Japan should maintain in their policies the political consensus of treating each other as cooperativ­e partners and seeing each other as no threat.

• The questions related to history and Taiwan matter to the foundation of the countries’ relations, and Japan should honor its commitment­s and properly handle them. China allows no other countries to interfere in its domestic affairs under any pretext.

• In terms of maritime and territoria­l disputes, both countries should abide by the principles and consensus they reached and properly handle difference­s with political wisdom and responsibi­lity.

• The two should also adhere to strategic independen­ce and good-neighborli­ness, resist conflict and confrontat­ion, and practice true multilater­alism to jointly deal with global challenges.

JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER FUMIO KISHIDA:

• As close neighbors, Japan and China pose no threat to each other. The two sides should and need to coexist in a peaceful manner.

• Japan and China are interdepen­dent in terms of developmen­t, and Japan welcomes China to make positive contributi­ons to the world through its own developmen­t.

• Japan-China cooperatio­n has great potential, and the two countries bear important responsibi­lities for peace and prosperity in the region and across the world.

• On the Taiwan question, Japan’s commitment­s made in the Japan-China Joint Statement remain unchanged.

PRESIDENT XI JINPING:

• China and Italy, as two ancient civilizati­ons, should carry forward their traditiona­l friendship, understand and support each other’s core interests and major concerns, pursue common ground while shelving difference­s, expand consensus, and set an example for relations between countries with different social systems and cultural background­s.

• The two sides are expected to tap into the China-Italy Government Committee and dialogue mechanisms to explore the potential of cooperatio­n in such areas as high-end manufactur­ing, clean energy, aviation and aerospace as well as in third-party markets.

• China remains committed to high-level opening-up, and it will import more quality products from Italy. The country welcomes Italy to be the guest of honor at the 2023 China Internatio­nal Consumer Products Expo.

• The two sides should use the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan as an opportunit­y to step up cooperatio­n on winter sports and industries.

• China will continue to strengthen communicat­ion and coordinati­on with Italy within multilater­al platforms such as the Group of 20 and jointly respond to major challenges in areas such as the global economy.

• Under the current circumstan­ces, it is of great importance to promote steady growth of the China-European Union relationsh­ip, and it is hoped that Italy will play an important role in the EU’s commitment to an independen­t and positive China policy.

ITALIAN PRIME MINISTER GIORGIA MELONI:

• Italy does not approve of bloc confrontat­ion, and it believes that countries should respect their difference­s and disagreeme­nts, strengthen solidarity, maintain dialogue and exchanges, and enhance mutual understand­ing.

• The country looks to closely collaborat­e with China within the United Nations, the G20 and other frameworks to tackle the various pressing challenges in a more effective manner.

• Italy is glad to see the events of the Year of Culture and Tourism being held, and it stands ready to continue advancing bilateral cooperatio­n in such areas as trade and culture.
