GARY AHNQUIST’S O GAUGE MODEL RAILROAD

Model railroaders who have devoted years to constructing large and detailed layouts often save some of their favorite trains for a small display set up strictly for the holidays. Gary Ahnquist can be included among them, and readers of Classic Toy Trains will learn about his primary layout in an upcoming issue. For the moment, though, we’ll focus on how he gathers some postwar and modern Lionel pieces, along with structures and details from Department 56 and Lemax, to create something special for Christmas at his home in Arlington, Va.
