Help from Menards

I was among the O gauge modelers fortunate enough to acquire one of the Santa Fe F3 diesels released by Menards and reviewed in the November 2021 issue of Classic Toy Trains. As Bob Keller pointed out, the engines come with the hand control. When I put my diesel on my layout, I discovered the controller wasn’t working, and that meant the engine wasn’t either.

I reached out to Menards for

help, and they told me that on some of the remotes the positive end of the battery wasn’t touching the metal inside the controller. The easy fix was to bend the metal. I did that and my diesel runs like a charm. – Michael Salnick, Lantana, Fla.
