THE DEETS: The study was conducted observing 90 elderly women, half of whom were given a probiotic powder with a strain of Lactobacillus twice daily for a year, while the other half of the group was given the same regimen, only with a placebo. Research also demonstrated that the probiotics produce no side effects and are well tolerated by the subjects.
