Climbing - - FACES -

Resolution Direct is an unrelenting expedition up gigantic quartzite flakes on Gogarth’s tallest section. The exposure creeps up the moment you embark on the steep, grassy scramble to the tidal ledges near the route’s base. There is only a sixhour tidal window when you can access the start, plus the rock can be damp till the afternoon sun comes around. Despite the positive holds and abundant gear, there is always a feeling of tension as the daylight fades and you realize the impossibility of an abseil retreat to the vanishing ledges. Combine this with sometimes-vicious seagulls and the odd bit of loose rock, and you have the perfect ingredients for an epic sea-cliff extravaganza.
