GOLDIE HAWN

-

Makes a splash in Hawaii while filming her first movie role in 15 years!

Stepping onto a movie set for the first time in nearly 15 years, Goldie Hawn felt nervous — but she had no need to worry. “Her initial fears about being too old were shot down when she first appeared on the set and received thunderous applause and a standing ovation from the cast and crew,” an insider tells Closer about the iconic actress, who is shooting a film in Hawaii with comedian Amy Schumer (Trainwreck). “Goldie’s back in her element, and she’s loving it.”

In the as-yet-untitled farce, Goldie and Amy play a mother and daughter who get lost in the Amazon rain forest during an adventure vacation and scramble to find their way back to an American embassy. But the 70-year-old star feels anything but lost in the jungle. “Goldie didn’t realize how much she missed being away on location,” the insider says. “She forgot how much fun the crew and the actors can be and the camaraderie of just being on the set.”

Don’t call it a comeback. “I’m not doing this to re-establish a career,” Goldie told Closer at the UCLA Champions of Our Planet’s Future Gala earlier this year. “I’m doing it because it’s one of the things that makes me happy. It got to a point where I thought, Gee, it would be kind of fun to make people laugh again!”

She’s certainly having a great time. Goldie and Amy were recently spotted chuckling between takes on a Hawaiian beach. “Amy’s amazing,” Goldie says. “I love her very much. I can’t think of a better movie!”

Back at home in LA, longtime boyfriend Kurt Russell, 65, has been supervising renovations of their new house, but he may jet over to join Goldie for a visit. “Wherever Goldie and Kurt go, it usually turns into a holiday,” says the insider. “They can spend weeks apart with no problem, but they’re always better when they’re together as a couple.”
