Shares Cat Tales in New Book
IN HER self-titled memoir, out Nov. 1, the Birds star Tippi Hedren opens up about her playful — but often risky — home life with lions while she created her Shambala Preserve for big cats, which she still runs. For example, when she and then-husband Noel Marshall were casting their film Roar in 1971, she met the lion Neil, who became “a constant visitor” at Tippi’s house. But when her daughter Melanie Griffith, 14 at the time, was introduced, Neil took her “whole shoulder in his mouth,” Tippi, 86, writes. “I was sitting there, watching half of my daughter disappear into the fangs of a lion!”
