GINGER’S STAR RISES

▶Ambitious Ginger starred on Broadway in 1930 while simultaneously working in small roles in movies on Paramount’s lot in Queens, N.Y.

▼She met her second of five husbands, Lew Ayres, when they co-starred in Don’t Bet on Love, a 1933 comedy-drama. They married the next year.

She celebrated with Jimmy Stewart when she won the Oscar for 1940’s Kitty Foyle.
