DEEPWATER HORIZON

-

“I play a guy who worked on a rig — an ordinary guy who had to do extraordinary things not only to survive but to help others,” says Mark Wahlberg of Deepwater Horizon, an action-packed saga inspired by the 2010 explosion and oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. “For me, that’s an extremely compelling story to tell.” Reteaming with Lone Survivor director Peter Berg, Mark threw himself into the project. “We had all this research,” says the star. “We really had access to all the transcripts of everything that happened.” The cast also includes Kate Hudson as Mark’s wife and her mom Goldie Hawn’s longtime real-life love, Kurt Russell, as the rig’s offshore installation manager. “Growing up watching him work, he’s such a pro, and I think it was a great lesson for me when I was younger as to what kind of actress I wanted to be,” says Kate. “I just love everything he’s done.” [PG-13]
