Eva Marie Saint’s blouse tie is back!

She captivated us (and won an Oscar!) in her film debut as shy Edie Doyle in On the Waterfront 62 years ago, but it was her role as the femme fatale in Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest that put Eva Marie Saint on the fashion map. The star dazzled with simple, feminine silhouettes both on- and offscreen — and she’s still wowing fans with her sleek style on the red carpets at 92 years old! “Her style has an alluring elegance,” says celebrity stylist Dawn Del Russo. “This is most evident in the way she put a sexy spin on the classic men’s white button-down shirt and necktie.”

So we were thrilled to see today’s stars are stepping out in the chic, figure-flattering look that Eva Marie had pioneered. To master the sophisticated ensemble, Del Russo advises opting for a fitted white blouse that’s tucked in to highlight curves as well as fashioning the long tie into a bow for a feminine touch.
