A Fresh Start Begins With a Job
Since 2011, MaineWorks has been helping ex-inmates recovering from addiction in their transition back into society.
The Portland, Maine– based company finds ex-cons in recovery temporary jobs, provides them with a ride to work and helps them secure housing in hopes of helping them remain sober. “Jail or prison is not rehab. Anyone who’s coming out is subject to slipping back,” says founder Margo Walsh. Her company, which employs from 60 to 70 people, “is like a safe haven,” she says.
