“Silvering” Plumps Thin Strands
Shadows caused by a dirty gray hue left the Barnaby Jones star’s locks looking thin in 2014, but today she proves that gray can be gorgeous and help erase years! Redken colorist Tracey Cunningham, who’s worked with Bette Midler and Drew Barrymore, suggests a technique called silvering. “Hair is bleached until it’s almost white, then a blue-toned conditioner is applied to remove any yellow tones,” she says. “This creates a light-reflecting shade that helps hair pop against the scalp to give strands a fuller appearance.” A kit we like that comes with the bleach and conditioner: L’Oréal Paris Féria
