Whatever happened to the cast of... TO SIR, WITH LOVE

On June 14, 1967, audiences learn children grow up to be people one day — thanks to the kids at one tough London school.

Sidney Poitier

Following time teaching right from wrong, and weak from strong as Mark Thackeray, Sidney, 90, thought he had a lot to learn about himself. So besides acting in films from In the Heat of the Night to TV’s Mandela and de Klerk, he directed such pics as Uptown Saturday Night and Stir Crazy, wrote an autobiography and served as the Bahamian ambassador to Japan. “I always wanted to be someone better the next day than I was the day before.… Today, that is my drive.”

Judy Geeson

While Pamela Dare went from crayons to perfume during her time in Mr. Thackeray’s class, Judy, 68, found success going between stage, film and TV. Along with starring in movies from Brannigan to Rob Zombie’s 31, she’s appeared on more than 40 TV movies and series — most notably as cranky neighbor Maggie Conway on Mad About You and in the TV movie sequel, To Sir, with Love II.

Christian Roberts

Just as those awkward years hurried by for Bert Denham, they’d fly away for Christian, 73, as well. After acting in theater, cult pics such as The Anniversary with Bette Davis, and British TV imports à la The Avengers and The Persuaders!, he grew into his role as a board member for his family’s dairy business. He then decided to move to Barbados and start his own venture, the Lone Star Restaurant & Hotel.

Lulu

After schoolgirl days telling tales and biting nails as Miss Pegg were gone, Lulu’s career has lived on and on. Not only did she win the Eurovision Song Contest, sing the theme to The Man With the Golden

Gun and release 17 albums, Lulu, 68, had a string of BBC variety shows, hit the stage and continued to act, most recently, in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie. And, for a time, she was married to Bee Gee Maurice Gibb.
