The secret to Debra Messing’s eye-popping look? Champagne liner!
Debra Messing
Champagne “Liner” Opens Eyes
Severe, black-rimmed eyes caused the Will & Grace star’s peepers to look small and tired last year, adding decades to her appearance. All it took for Debra to reverse the years? Swapping kohl liner for a soft champagne shadow. “The light-reflecting color instantly brightens eyes for a wide-awake look, and smoking it out lightly at the outer corners creates an eye-lift effect,” says makeup artist Sally Duvall, who has worked with stars like Kate Moss and Sarah Jessica Parker. Her to-do: Use an angled eyeliner brush to sweep a shimmering shadow (we like Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadow Singles in Sateen, $12, anastasiabeverlyhills.com) across the top and bottom lash lines, blending up and out at the eyes’ outer corners.
Patti LaBelle
Slanted Fringe Softens Features
Bangs can cover forehead furrows but the straight-across style of the R&B singer’s fringe in 2015 put focus on other agers, says hairstylist Valery Joseph, who has worked with Helen Mirren and Bethenny Frankel. The sharp edges worked like tiny arrows to point right at her crow’s-feet and the one-dimensional cut left her locks looking flat. Patti’s layered crop now adds youthful volume while diagonal bangs strategically skim over fine lines to mask them. For a similar look, ask your stylist for a cut with blended layers and fringe that frames the face at a 90-degree angle. Then spritz a volumizing spray onto roots (we like It’s a 10 Miracle Blowdry Volumizer, $20, ulta.com), blow-dry hair up at the roots for lift and tousle lightly for added bounce.
Lee Meriwether
Vitamin K Erases Redness
The onetime Catwoman is a shining example of how to age gracefully—and gorgeously! The one blip: A ruddy complexion left her looking older at 80 than she does at 82. “Years of sun exposure contributes to the development of broken capillaries,” says New York City dermatologist Rachel Nazarian, M.D. The result? Unflattering red splotches. For even skin like Lee has now, Dr. Nazarian recommends a cream with vitamin K (like Reviva Labs Vitamin K Créme, $19, cvs.com). The nutrient helps strengthen blood-vessel walls to heal broken vessels and keep them from bursting open again. To do: Apply to clean skin twice a day (morning and night) for results in seven days.
