YOUNGER IN SECONDS
These ladies seem to be growing younger every year! Closer asked top pros why
Monica Bellucci’s wispy bangs help hide those forehead furrows and work to reverse the years.
Monica Bellucci Wispy Bangs Mask Wrinkles
Bangs may have concealed the former Bond girl’s forehead furrows three years ago, but the full, heavy fringe created “arrows” that pointed right to her crow’s-feet instead. “The best way to counter fine lines is to soften everything around them, so snipping in light, airy bangs like Monica did this year helps reverse the years,” says hairstylist Lavette Slater, who’s worked with Whoopi Goldberg and Glenn Close. For a similar age-defying ’do, ask your stylist for long wispy bangs, about 4 inches in length, that skim just below the eyes. Tip: To keep fringe piecey, part it at the temple with a pinch of hair wax (like Garnier Fructis Finishing Paste, Pure Clean, Strong, $5, riteaid.com), then smooth out a few eye-framing wisps.
Oprah Winfrey This Brush Rejuvenates Skin
She’s a TV host, entrepreneur and actress, and since taking her complexion from lackluster in 2014 to radiant now, Oprah can add age-reverser to her impressive résumé! “A decrease in oil production as we age dehydrates skin, putting wrinkles into harsh focus,” says New York City celebrity aesthetician Nadia Dekhkanova. “Plus, the accumulation of dead skin cells prevents moisturizers from effectively hydrating skin.” Dekhkanova’s tip to luminous skin like Oprah’s now: Gently exfoliate the dry layers with a brush (we like Earth Therapeutics Soft Touch Complexion Brush, $6, ulta.com) before applying skin cream. Simply dampen the bristles, rub the face in circular motions for 1 minute, rinse and moisturize. Do two to three times a week for results in under a month.
Faith Hill Lush Lashes Wake Up Eyes
Short, sparse lashes made the country crooner’s peepers look small and tired, causing her to appear older at 45 than she does at 50. All it took for Faith to turn back the clock? “Long, voluminous lashes which optically lift and open the eye area for a fresh, wide-awake look,” says lash expert Clementina Richardson, who has worked with Mary J. Blige and Naomi Campbell. For full, fluttery eyelashes that make eyes pop like Faith’s do now, Richardson suggests swiping two to three coats of a fiber-based mascara (we like L’Oréal Paris Voluminous X Fiber Mascara, $11, lorealparisusa.com) onto top lashes. “The fibers adhere to natural hairs from root to tip, giving lashes added length and definition.”
