REBEL SELL
Is it a cause celeb? On March 3, California’s Palm Beach Modern Auctions put up for bid a bit of Hollywood iconography: the red windbreaker James Dean wore in 1955’s Rebel Without a Cause. At press time, the jacket was expected to fetch $400,000 to $600,000 for the auction house and seller Michael Scott, who said the jacket always had sentimental value to him and his high school friends: “We were called greasers. We were going through some of the same kind of torment that [James] was living in the script.”
