Her Mission: Keeping the Planet Green

Despite bullying, a student vows to keep picking up litter.

This past September, 12-yearold Nadia Sparkes began filling her bicycle basket with litter she found on the two-mile stretch between her Norfolk, England, home and school — and she’s managed to collect enough for two recycling bins! “We are all responsible for keeping this world safe,” she said. Sadly, some bullies began calling her “Trash Girl,” but the name-calling won’t deter Nadia, who’s had lots of support from a Team Trash Girl Facebook page. “I’m not going to stop doing the right thing because of [bullies],” she said. “I’m doing something to protect the world they also live in. It’s everyone’s job!”
