Illeana Douglas Her rescue pup, Chauncey, has a new leash on life

Chauncey is all heart,” Illeana Douglas gushes to Closer of her Lhasa apso–Tibetan terrier rescue. The Ghost World actress, 52, took in her “brave, smart, curious and extremely loyal” little guy from a shelter roughly four years ago. “He looked terrified,” she recalls about first seeing photos of him “jammed” in a cage. “I said to myself, ‘That dog needs to be rescued.’ ” Since he’s been with her, Chauncey has healed significantly and has really come into his own. “I made him a promise that he would never have anything bad happen to him again,” Illeana shares. “He deserves to live a happy life — he deserves to be loved!”
