RITA WILSON SINGS THE PRAISES OF HUSBAND TOM HANKS FOR HIS CONSTANT SUPPORT
Rita Wilson praises hubby Tom Hanks for his endless love and support during her darkest days.
Before they were even married, Rita Wilson knew Tom Hanks was the perfect guy for her. Out of the blue one day during a stroll in New York City, he turned to his future bride and said, “I just want you to know that you never have to change anything about who you are in order to be with me.”
Tom’s sweetness won Rita’s heart, and it’s only grown through the years, proven by his devotion to his wife when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. “Our relationship was always strong, but I think it deepens your connection in a way,” she told Closer at the Unforgettable Evening Benefit for the Women’s Cancer Research Fund on Feb. 27 in Beverly Hills. “Every day is a gift.” And as she and Tom, both 61, look forward to their 30th anniversary in April, Rita insists she is feeling great — and grateful. “You cherish your time more and who you spend your time with,” she says. “I literally wake up every morning and say, ‘Thank you, God! What a gorgeous day. I’m so glad to be alive.’ ”
Not only has Tom been Rita’s rock during her darkest days, he’s always there to cheer on her successes, too. To thank him, the fledgling singer-songwriter penned a love song titled “Every Day” to thank her husband for his unflinching support. “Rita and I are blessed because we really like each other, and we always have,” Tom raves of his wife, and the duo find it easy to stay in perfect harmony. “The only thing we argue about,” he notes with a smile, “is who loves each other more.”
