SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO

-

“It’s just more severe all the way around,” Josh Brolin says of this sequel to the Oscarnominated 2015 drug-war drama Sicario. “The characters are more severe, and the movie is more severe. It’s just a bigger-scope film.” This time, rogue federal agent Matt Graver (Josh) joins forces once again with mercenary Alejandro Gillick (Benicio Del Toro) after terrorists start crossing the U.S.Mexico border. “It’s another chapter, and it’s its own thing,” says Benicio. “It’s got some of the same characters living in the same realm, and it’s got an equal number of ‘oh, s---’ moments.” Emily Blunt doesn’t reprise her role from the original as a fledgling FBI agent, but Catherine Keener (Get Out) joins the cast as Graver’s tough-talking boss. “It’s unpredictable,” says Benicio of Sicario: Day of the Soldado. “It’s an emotional ride that’s hopefully entertaining and fun.” [R]
