Heart of Two Champions
Baseball Hall of Famer Rod Carew, 72, was a hero to NFL star Konrad Reuland and — in a twist of fate — was saved by him.
When Rod had a heart attack in 2015, doctors said he’d need a new heart and kidney. As fate would have it, Rod (who wore No. 29 with the Minnesota Twins and California Angels) got them from Konrad after the former Baltimore Ravens tight end died from an aneurysm a year later…at age 29. It helped inspire Rod’s Heart of 29 campaign with the American Heart Association to help prevent heart disease.
