Vet Gives Words of Wisdom
For nearly a decade, 94-year-old veteran Wally Richardson has cheered on students in El Dorado Hills, Calif.
He stands outside Marina Village Middle School and offers kids words of wisdom and a fist bump to start their day. It began when Wally and his wife, Jenny (who lives with him nearby but can no longer make the walk), wanted “to talk to them about philosophy [and] being kind,” he said. Some of his most memorable sayings are immortalized on a school mural, such as: “Be kind whenever possible. It’s always possible.”
